It was used to describe God’s dwelling place long before Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem (Ex. 23:19; Jud. 18:31; 1 S. 1:7). The phrase is also used in other psalms attributed to David (Ps. 27:4; 122:1, 9). No valid argument against David’s authorship of Psalm 23 has ever been presented.
